Farmer's Wife - Week 28

For Week 28 of our Farmer's Wife Quilt-along, we'll be making three more blocks, all rather unusual and all using Foundation Paper Piecing.  We are making:
  • Block 78 - Shooting Star
  • Block 82 - Spider Legs
  • Block 86 - Squash Blossom

Block 78 - Shooting Star

Shooting Star will be made in four sections using the templates found here.

Block 82 - Spider Legs

Spider Legs will be made similar to Wood Lily (Block 110) we made in Week 21.  It will be a little simpler.

The center square should be cut 1 7/8 inches and set aside for final assembly.

To make the four triangles on the sides, start with two squares cut 3 3/4 inches then cut on the diagonal.  I have included templates for these triangles on the page referenced below if you'd prefer to use that as a guide.

There are eight sections for the chevron sections that can be pieced using the foundation paper piecing templates here, or you can do strip piecing like on Wood Lily.  Remember that for each chevron section you need two sections that are mirror images of each other.

Block 86 - Squash Blossom

Squash Blossom has six sections that are paper pieced using this template.
