Block 36 - Flower Garden Path
This block will be a little difficult, but only due to the set-in seams that will be required.Farmer's Wife - Block 36 - Flower Garden Path |
If you have never sewn set-in seams, Jinny Beyer has a great tutorial to explain. You will need to use this for that Y-seam I have notated in the image below.
Before getting to that step, you will need to create the sections as shown in the image below.
- 6 green triangles cut from three 2 1/4 inch squares (labeled 1 below)
- 4 white triangles cut from two 1 7/8 inch squares (labeled 2 below)
- 4 white rectangles 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches (labeled 3 below)
- 4 HSTs (white/green), start with 1 7/8 inch squares (labeled 4 below)
- 12 green triangles cut from six 1 7/8 inch squares (labeled 5 below)
- blue pieces cut using this template
Assemble each the four sections (A and B), then sew the two A sections together along that short seam in the middle. Keep in mind that each end of that seam will be left open so you can inset the B sections. Sew the B sections in, sewing each side of the section separately being mindful of the set-in seam.
Block 74 - Ribbons
I have provided a Foundation Paper Piecing template for this block. You could try to go the strip piecing method similar to Wood Lily in week 21, but this wouldn't be quite as efficient as Wood Lily, as there would be some waste of the white fabric (but you may be able to re-use what gets cut off).Farmer's Wife - Block 74 - Ribbons |
Using the Foundation Paper Piecing method, be careful on color placement, as there are two different templates (4 of each) that go together in a mirror image fashion.
Block 96 - Tulip
For Block 96, Tulip, I have provided a template for Foundation Paper Piecing.Farmer's Wife - Block 96 - Tulip |
